I've been using tretinoin everyday for the past 3+ years. AMA.

is there a diff in how you use it in summer vs winter?

The first 6 months my skin looked like shit. It wasn't until close to 1 year that I realised a significant improvement in skin quality. Hang in there. Tretinoin absolutely works, you just have to be patient.

Worth it?
Absolutely. I struggle to think of an easier and more effective looksmax.

1. Two half finger lengths worth. Doesn't need to be exact.
2. No. Apply everyday.
3. Yes. Winter my skin is noticeably dryer. Tretinoin tends to exacerbate dryness. Summer is when my skin looks the best for sure.

Is the difference in your skin quality/collagen significant? Are there any remarks from people? Do you think if you use it almost everyday age 19 onwards along with sunscreen you will end up looking significantly younger than most when in your 30s?

Also what percentage tret did you use?

1. Yes. Tretinoin incrementally improves your skin, but these incremental improvements add up in a big way over a large timeframe. The difference between year zero and year one is significant. The difference between year one and year two is smaller, but still noticeable. The difference between year two and year three is even smaller. However the difference between year zero and year three is absolutely massive. It almost defies belief. If you showed me a picture of my face at 27 when I was 24 I wouldn't have believed you.
2. Yes. I've received compliments along the lines of 'smooth', 'glowy' to describe my skin.
3. Without doubt. Daily tretinoin usage from a young age is the single best thing you can do for anti-aging, better than any cosmetic surgery or procedure.
4. Started off with 0.05, upped to 0.1, then back down to 0.05. 0.1 is too strong for most people and the irritation isn't worth it. 0.05 gets the job done fine.

Are you able to tan on it though? I would implement but I need a tan for appeal
You're a fucking mongoloid idiot if you tan on tretinoin.

You're defeating the entire purpose of using tretinoin and only destroying your skin.

Yeah that is trets one falio tho, that u can’t tan. I need a tan for appeal

Do you think that I could just get a tan, take tret and then maintain tan with melatonin2 shot 1x a week

Just started 0.05 EOD a week ago Would say this is fine? Or can I do ED? My skin is pretty bad

Also I have 0.1 on the way after I'm done then imma move down to 0.5

Just no. If you plan on tanning do not take tretinoin. It will nuke the fuck out of your skin. Either take tret, or tan. Choose one not both.

I started on 0.05 daily, then moved on to 0.1 daily. You should be fine. If you get too much irritation, consider putting moisterizer on directly after tret application.

do you eat PUFA

Do you feel like you look younger tho ?
I see women or even men in their 30s or 40s using tret and they still look like 30 or 40 tho

Yes. I look younger at 27 than I do at 18. I am not joking.

My take is that tret is unnecessary here

Why not try a self tanner?

What changes in the skin have you seen in these 3 years ?

Increased smoothness, increased glow (this one is hard to describe, but my skin just looks more supple and youthful), less melanin, acne scars pretty much completely gone (just by looking at my face, you can never tell I had serious acne at one point in my life).

did you get dry eyes from it? if not, did you apply with a buffer like over the top of a moisturizer? did you use vaseline under your eyes to prevent the retinol from ruining your eye glands? do you use eye drops?
i got Meibomian glands disfunction after 2 years of use. i havent used it for 6 months and my eyes still burn everyday constantly. its awful and debilitating. im afraid the eye damage is permanent

what acne scars did you start with? i been on tret for over a year but my actual icepick scars have barely gotten better. a lot less redness though. think i will need cosmetic procedure to unfuck my skin

I've been on Tret for the past 6 months, had amazing gains in the acne department, but it has done little to fix my forehead fine lines.
How long does it take to have results there? Did it fix fine lines for you?

I'm using 0.05 5 times a week (I don't apply it in the days I shave my face)

Anything you would've liked to tell yourself before hopping on tret?

1. does tret work for undereye aging (not wrinkles)?
2. will i get it prescribed if i dont have acne? only for collagen purposes

I didn't have icepick scars. You will probably need treatment to 100% heal icepick scars. My scars were less shallow, and healed perfectly on tretinoin.

Yes. It works for wrinkles. 6 months is too short a timeframe. Be patient.

Forget about 0.1. Just do 0.05 everyday for the rest of your life.

1. Yes but don't put it directly under your eye. It's a little too strong for that.
2. Yes. Tretinoin is the gold standard for anti aging. Just tell the doctor you want to use it for that purpose.

Hey I'm 15 and I'm in an acne purge phase right now and I wanna start using it. Where would you recommend to get it and what are some things I should know before I start using it?

Yes, there is nothing wrong with starting early. Just be diligent with your sunscreen. Start with 0.05 and use it every night before bed. No need to bother with other strengths.

how about wrinkles? Does it help with preventing nasolabial folds? Have u tried it on body does help with back postacne?
How many days it takes for skin to become less sensitive to the sun? For example stop using tret before going to sunny vacation?

Do you use things like claymasks or exfoliating pads in conjunction with tret? If so, give some details bro. And how do you counteract/prevent crows feet if you cant put tret there?

No

everything else is cope

tret is the only thing you need

you can put tret on the temples. it will migrate to your crows feet.

I am not convinced that Tretinoin alters perceived facial age. I am convinced of the clinical and ex vivo data that it definitely improves skin quality as retinoid change gene expression and thus differentiation/turnover of keratinocytes through agonism of RARs.

retinoid may improve skin surface quality with some dermal thickening (increased collagen and HA content in the ECM) but they won’t do anything to address the real drivers of an aging face. Which is age related changes in facial fat compartment, fascia, and bone loss. These changes are readily (milliseconds) and unmistakably perceived by the human eye and give off the true age of a person. I just finished watching the new movie by JLO. Despite her coping with facelifts Botox lasers skincare and Tretinoin my eye could unmistakably still tell she is above 50. Just well maintained

What are your thoughts on perceived fat pad loss from retinoids?

most celebs have not gotten facial fat grafting. Do you think it's the best way to alter perceived age despite it also not being able to make most people look more than 5 years younger?

Tret has overall darkened my skin by a shade. Has anyone else noticed this?

how do u guys cope with dry eyes? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE my eyes are so dry they are burning so i quit
6 months later i still have dry eyes
