I am an IVF baby myself, and through out my whole life I wanted to be the best in every field I was in

school? done that, sports? ranked internationally and so on, if I didn’t succeed I would crash out, for example I sucked at music, but in time learned to dislike things that I’m not talented at.

I learned I was an IVF baby when I was very young, and how I was the best testbook outcome possible,

I felt, superior?

I’m wondering if this knowledge that I’m the best outcome subconsciously implemented the need to be superior deep in my brain?

If this is true then most IVF babies should have a superiority complex and feel/want to be superior in every field, to everyone

So could IVF directly be linked to the Superiority Complex?

interesting, this sort of sounds like a real life application of the "chosen one" complex that appears as a narrative trope in stories all the time like star wars or harry potter. i think its pretty plausible that someone knowing that their life began as some sort of unnatural or rare success compared to the general populace would be inclined to believe that their life is worth or destined for more.

Yes exactly, thats one of the best ways to put in in words.

You're not superior to anyone in the slightest aspect if you have to ask a question like this. All it takes is two minutes of research to understand that IVF is not linked to having a superiority complex at all.

mirin the high IQ post def one of the most interesting ideas ive seen on the forum so far. id lowkey be interested to see if anyone has researched this sort of idea before and if not it should definitely be explored in the future.

If you took a singular minute to read the post you would see that I’ve never mentioned beeing superior, only the feeling of beings so,

This is literally due to being created artificially in a lab and being the best outcome out of 53 other embryos.

I don’t believe I’m superior but I sometimes think about it

absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, maybe thats true for many people but just because no correlation has been found doesnt mean it doesnt exist. maybe future psychological studies will reveal something unexpected

this should highly be researched,

I believe IVF may be linked to superiority

but babies that are engineered with CRISPR in the future will endure this so much more than ones with IVF

If a superiority complex among IVF individuals like OP existed, we would have already seen evidence indicating that by now. IVF has been studied way before people like OP were even conceived, psychological differences tend to show themselves after a long duration of time. You're not doing anything but speculating.

You're an idiot.

You literally missed the point. I acknowledged your statement that you're not claiming to be superior. I'm stating the fact that there is absolutely no correlation between being an IVF baby and having a superiority complex. That's just your own uninformed conclusion.

Once again, there is an absence of studies in to this specific topic,

and this is not my conclusion, it is my theory,

I believe there could possibly be a link between them

of course not, but that's always the first step. im just saying that its an interesting idea, and that it isnt too far fetched that understanding youre an IVF baby (or having some other sort of experience early that gives you a sense of being "chosen") could affect your ego later on in life.

the research might not exist now, but similar ideas are already well researched. for example, the self determination theory's role in the development of narcissism creating a "chosen one" mindset:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30019345/

as well as the effects of past and future perception due to grandiose narcissism, displaying reconstructive memory and simulating futures where they are seen as exceptional, supporting the idea that people will mentally reconstruct their life story to reinforce their internalized narrative of feeling important:

again, these arent exactly applicable to IVF babies, but this idea could very well contribute as a part to a much bigger whole. there exists some bidirectional ambiguity in this theory at the moment, as, for example, OPs preexisting ideas that he is superior could have lead him to see his IVF as something special which supports these ideas, rather than the IVF being the cause of the feelings of superiority.

these unanswered questions are exactly why more thinking should be done around the subject

Depends on if you are born out of inferility desparated parents or chosen for superior traits.

If both of your parents were sub5 just wanting to continue their bloodline, there is no basis for superiority complex.

Valid point, without going super in to detail, both my parents are perfectionists, finished their unis ranked 1st in their class ext. and a successful life before me

They were both fertile however they chose to create me as an IVF so that I would also be perfect in most aspects, like them
