The Talmud is mostly just Rabbis arguing. But they still follow it and pay money to learn from it. Many of the doctrines are seen as "you should give back to a gentile, but you don't have to" because lots derive from actual Toratic literature.

It's 2.5 million words. I'd estimate the number of people on the planet who have read it, excluding religious brainwashing, to be maybe 200 but even that could be super optimistic. Potentially around 70.
