The richest and most successful man ever, was siddhartha gautam but he left that all behind when he felt unfulfilled. When he was searching for the truth, that's when he became buddha.

The buddha was not concerned with material things, he lived without comforts and he experienced true enlightenment when he let go of material possessions.

Money can't give you true happiness because it is only temporary. Only self-realisation of the nature of reality can bring happiness in long term.
