Yeah, it's a very good job path for incels actually, nothing to lose type shit and you can make great money but if you get captured you're done lol, or if they send a drone to your location, over.
I could never be a soldier, I can barely even tolerate bosses at few jobs I had let alone someone telling me to storm the trench cuz they said so.
PMCs are much more independent though, you can even become a contract killer and have your own rules but tbh it's not sustainable long term, working as a mercenary has much more legal liberties than working alone, and still is a much more independent job than being straight up a soldier

For a good paying position in a private military you gotta be exceptional though so lots of training and natural physical talent, there's guys getting paid hundreds per day but they're top tier operators coming from elite level military teams
Knew a guy that knows a guy that makes 25k a month in the middle east as a PMC. This was back in 2018 and told to me by an American Iraq veteran that was for some reason staying in Serbia at the time. Now that is good money.
That is insane money, couldn't be me though, it is a very attractive job position but as you said, being bossed around sucks, and to get a good job as a PMC you need several years of previous base military experience, med school did it for me but i always loved the idea of being a soldier, especially a mercenary, they're tuff as hell.
