You're going to have to fake being on friendly terms with all your coworkers and your WILL have to asslick all your managers. Being actually competent is irrelevant to getting promotions most of the time.
This is a requirement for any job really if you're gonna stay there long term there. Just how corporations are. They're like cults in a way.

No guarantee that they won't still act like hyenas against you but that's just life is how life is in general.
