Please for the love of fuck go watch Jonathan Warren’s videos on training pecs and back, particularly about rib flare and maintining proper posture.

This shit is fixing my pec and lat and overall physique symmetry on a weekly basis, turns out it actually isn’t genetics (for some cases, like mine), and you really just have no idea how to train.

PLEASE be open minded to that last comment (you have no idea how to train) because if you are getting a deeeep stretch (we don’t know what it actually does) you are likely not doing this correctly .

When you “retract your shoulder blades and scapulae ” during the set up, eccentric and concentric of a press, you are literally fucking yourself, especially with an arch. The spinal extension is NOT helping you. You likely then describe flat presses as a majority lower pec movement and prescribe excessive incline movements for yourself and your poor friends who probably would’ve gone on to do it right if it weren’t for you.

If this isn’t for you then just keep moving, I trained incorrectly for 3 years following dipshits like Dr. Mike at the very start, culminating to me watching and following people like Paul Carter and hypertrophy coach. I’m a bodybuilding fan, extremely obsessed with it for years so I know all the training philosophies of the major coaches, throughout time even. I’ve read most of Arnold’s encyclopedia of bodybuilding AND seen shit from people like Yo talks so if you are just gonna regurgitate from someone I recommend you shut the fuck up and go watch a Jonathan Warren video.

This guy is so unbelievably locked in when it comes to his form knowledge, cues and demonstrations. His body is contorted due to poor intial form, and certain postural issues; which is insane when you consider how much he’s improved this shit. He knows literally every cheat code to train chest and back idk about the rest because that stuff grows like a weed on me, so it’s not a concern personally. Do not try to bitch at me about any of those for the aforementioned reason it doesn’t give you credibility.

His cues that saved my aesthetics personally as I’ve lean maxed, are gonna be centered around posterior expansion as well as a sort of protraction of the scapulae; remember that you have the serratus anterior that supports your entire fucking press so use it retard, stop with this pin it back bullshit, it’s so fucking stupid I can’t believe I fell for it.

The serratus anterior contributes massively to aesthetics. I haven’t seen this guy comment on pullovers much , but I can personally vouch for dumbbell pullovers for the pectorals and serratus, as well as triceps depending on your form. It is a terrific exercise, you can also pump up your lats some at the same time, so it’s even better. I got fairly strong with this at my peak natty moment before I went on roids, at 100lb for 6. It does your chest in like crazy and really thickens it.

Dumbbell pullovers are a dunning kruger curve type situation; if you know enough to understand lattisimus dorsi leverages, you’ll know that their contribution during an across the bench (with only lower scapulae touching the very edge of the bench, and hips dropped nearly to the ground) heavy dumbbell pullover is fairly negligible . The pecs, serratus and triceps really take over as soon as you stop doing some bullshit ass weight; and I’m saying that while telling you I did these pullovers with the stretch.

I advocate for the stretch, but with tension as well as a full contraction of the abs; and the depression of the ribs. You really need to be out of extension as well. Once you watch his vids you’ll get it.

Exactly as Jonathan said, I started to gain striations and literally new parts of my chest that never grew; as well as insane soreness, pump, mind muscle connection and GROWTH. Will attach physique so shut up.

I lost a lot of size and weight since I’ve gone off roids forcefully (I can lyk if ur curious why but yea) but I think my physique still speaks for itself, I’m no larper seeing as I was 200lbs with a 6 pack at 5’10”.
