Did 1 thread into the left and right of my upper and lower lip, 4 threads total. Have taken photos of the before so I can assess results.

Definitely more painful than when I did my nasolabials but the immediate insertion was manageable with topical lidocaine.

Moving the needles around in my lips was definitely more painful, but honestly still not that bad.

The needles were 1”, 25G. PDO mono threads.

Would recommend for anybody who wants to try improving their lips. I’ll look into more involved alternatives if I’m unhappy with these results.

How does it improve the lips? Is it like filler?

Also, you may look like you have herpes after so let’s hope those marks clear up soon

Adds subtle volume to the lips. The threads break down into collagen.
People also use them for lip widening in a slightly different way but I am not completely sure how. The injections are slightly different.

Definitely comparable, I’m hoping to make my vermillion borders more pronounced and achieve that Cupid’s bow aesthetic that the ideal lips often have.

I might look into it in the near future as my lips are pretty narrow

100%, they are very affordable too. I paid something like 50AUD for 20 off Amazon. I’m sure you can find them cheaper elsewhere.

Manageable with topical lidocaine. Definitely painful once you get in the lip though.
was there a reason you used 25g?

PDO mono threads are effectively just a needle with a little piece of what looks like string attached. The thread is attached to the needle so there is no real choice. I don’t think there’s PDO mono threads smaller than 25G.

It takes a few weeks to see results, since the threads will need to break down. I believe results can last for 6 months to 2 years. The procedure itself takes like 10 minutes though, worth it in anybody’s case.

If I can, without revealing too much of my face, sure.

PDO threads don't go deeper than dermis/subcutaneous. The needle is long and it goes the whole way in, but you pivot it to run along the same depth once you get 5mm in (where the white cylinder part of the needle that holds the thread is).

i dont think the risk outweighs the reward for me since i'd only have a use for it on my eye area

A little. But it’s hard to say for certain because of a heap of circumstances for me right now.
Aqualyx into the bottom of the malar fat pad, just above the fold, is probably the best bet.
