Interesting anime just skip the filler arcs and you're good. I like the story more than the battles but there are some actually good battles, just not many. Urahara prob best character overall.

It makes sense in the fights of Ichigo, since Aizen was controlling his evolution he always struggled in some parts and had to learn how to control his powers. Between the first two arcs, skipping bounts and other filler chapters the story makes sense because it's centered on Aizen plan not Ichigo. Look at Hachi fight with Barragan, they didn't fought with superpowers like DBZ. The fight of Ishida with Jugram also makes sense because Uryu is weaker. I didn't like the Lille Barro fight that much.
