I once had a part-time office job where I worked alongside a really fat guy. I remember on a night shift once, he ordered a Dominoes to himself, and when I was watching him eat it, he was sort of huddled over the pizza and grunting like a pig whilst he stuffed his mouth. He was in an almost orgasmic state whilst shovelling it down his throat. That made me think that there is probably genetic variation when it comes to how much pleasure we get from food. People prone to being fatties probably get far more of a dopamine hit from eating than people who are ‘naturally thin’ do.
