Just when I was about to hit the self-checkout I see this woman in her 30s make a run for herself. She was carrying a big ass bag full of alcohol, I presume. But one of the employees saw it, this tiny 20yo woman, just shouted, and went after her.
Unluckily for the shoplifter, this store has two automated doors that take forever to open, so she was just awkwardly staring at them while employee was catching up to her. She got a hold of her bag as the last door opened and they were pulling it like it was tug of war. They were putting in a lot of energy, I could just hear them grunt and the employee shouting "Drop the bag!" It was a really intensive 5-second battle -- finally the nerves got to the shoplifter and she dropped the bag in hopes she'll leave the scene without getting caught.
Then her employee friends ran over to the scene and they just stared at each other totally confused on what just happened, and then burst out laughing.
That was the most pathetic thing I've ever seen unfold right in front of my eyes, props to the employee, she really battled it out. What a great start for the day!
