Idk. I lowkey wish it scared the fuck out of me but it really hasn't. Its just a good movie

It's a great remake. You should watch the original Japanese movie it was based on as well. It's called Ringu. It's from 1998. And I agree, it's one of the best horror movies ever made. If you go in blind then that ending is going to haunt you forever.

Because they titled it after an English loanword, "ring", which they wrote in their own script that they use for loanwords and foreign names. That's why it's written as リング, by using the katakana script. It has a double meaning: it refers to both the ring of a phone as well as a circle.

Spoiler alert. But yes, that's the one. If you didn't know that while watching it, you'd be shitting bricks. Unfortunately I already knew about it so it didn't scare me the way it should have.

For western audiences, the remake is scarier because it's faster-paced. But if you want the authentic experience, it's best to watch the original as well.

It is.

Yeah, when I was younger it was described as extremely scary.

I don't wanna sound edgy but like, it wasn't thaat scary, it was just a REAALLY good plot.

You could just watch the tape on youtube and it wouldn't ruin the plot if you decide to watch the movie at later time, but yeah. The tape is very well done.

It has the same vibe as these "liminal spaces" except its actually scary.
