Im planning on hopping on finasteride soon to prevent the plans of the norwood reaper. How can I avoid ED from that stuff? Its the only thing keeping me away from it

My personal theory is that the decrease in dht leads to an increase in serum testosterone - Which in turn leads to more estrogen conversion and that’s what causes a lot of the side effects. I’m recommend talking to an endocrinologist abt a mild estrogen blocker after doing a full hormone blood panel

There’s so much fearmongering around finasteride and ED. In most cases it’s placebo, people actually lose sexual function because they fear it will happen. I’m on fin myself (1.25mg daily) and haven’t felt any side effects at all. My hair growth is better, my temples are growing hairs again.

A lot of people on here think no DHT = sloppy penis. I don’t believe so. Before i started fin, i was super scared of the infamous “side-effects”. What helped me get over that fear was watching Hair Cafe’s video on it on youtube. He goes well into detail about all the fear-mongering BS, and mentions a bunch of interesting studies.

My word of advice is; don’t begin fin if you’re afraid of it, because that fact alone might cause placebo side-effects. Rather do your own research and perhaps get peace of mind. It’s up to you, just giving you my two cents.

I don't think fin alone does this. Are you taking Minox or doing any kind of scalp massages?

Yes indeed. I use 1.25mg fin daily, apply minoxidil morning and evening, wash hair with ketoconazole shampoo weekly (only time i use shampoo, otherwise i rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water). I also dermaroll [0.5mm] weekly (same day as shampooing). Besides that i use 0 hair products, as they tend to dry out my hair in the long run.

Recently i also started using garlic, ginkgo biloba and hyaluronic tablet supplements (better blood flow, better scalp health, aswell as some other desired health bonuses). I haven’t done them long enough to see an effect, since i only started 2 days ago.

I’ve been on min for 2.5 months and fin for 1.5 months, and i’ve had slow but steady results so far. I might be a lucky responder, since a lot of people don’t see results this fast.

I'll consider some of that other stuff. But lately I added Blue Light and scalp massages. Lots of mixed reviews on it, but doesn't seem to have any major side effects. But at some point I'm just gonna cough up the money for an FUE.

One thing I think that isn't talked about enough is scalp tension as a major factor in balding. Which is why I started massages and essentially a minimal form of bonesmashing to the scalp to thicken tissue. This is mostly experimental for me tho. Haven't seen anything on it.

Essentially: thick looser skin tissue on the scalp allows more room for hair follicles to rest/grow and for blood to circulate. Heavy scalp tension basically confines and pushes hair follicles out slowly and restricts blood flow much like wearing a hat.

I haven’t looked much into blue light, but if it’s safe i don’t see a problem adding it to ones hairmax stack. You hit the nail on scalp massages though, they are good for blood flow which helps the hair follicles. I myself massage my scalp whenever i rinse my hair in the shower.

My hair is nowhere near the level of needing a hair transplant, but i’m happy i started fin early in my hairloss process.
I actually consulted with a place that does FUE’s, and they said it would be unethical to have me go through that, since i’m only 21 and my hairloss could worsen and really fuck up the look lmao. But at the same time they also recommended min+fin to battle any further hairloss, which might avoid the chance of needing a hair transplant in the future.

Tension on the scalp is definitely not helping, especially if you suffer from MPB. Reason why Jojo Siwa is norwood 3.

I don’t know about the mild bonesmashing though.. Seems like it might do more bad than good IMO. Could irritate the scalp and pull out hairs while you’re at it. Excited to see if you gain anything from it.

I try to do it light enough to where it just works more on tissue than causing more bone density. Yeah hopefully it doesn't do anything bad. I just use the Proximal Inter-Phalangeal joint (1st bend of the finger beside the knuckle). I personally try to avoid massaging my hair in large motions, because that seems more likely to tug on hair.

Not a big fan of any kinds of bonesmashing in general, but if it works for you it might be worth looking into.
