Not much to apply in day to day settings lol. Its very useful for advice/mental issues but for general practice unless you are looking to be a therapist its not like your gonna go around being light yagami getting people to give you 100s of dollars.

In general, it's good to maintain a level of humanity. For example, if you think of humans from a purely intellectual perspective, you are doomed to misery. You have to look at humans as what they are: human. Nobody is perfect; thus, it's illogical to judge them from an objective standpoint. My advice is to sometimes not critique a person based on a set of guidelines, as I'm sure they can do the same—and I'm sure you wouldn't like that.
Also, in my opinion, "manipulation" is largely for idiots. Smart people don't need to use underhanded tricks to convince someone of something. They can communicate their thoughts effectively and concisely enough for the other person to naturally agree with them.
Tldr
Smart people can convince people with logic while manipulators use easy tricks to fool people into convincing themselves.
