The forecast is for 2023, based on the number of children born in that year. South korea is genuinely fucked, yeah, but so is east asia as a whole. Thailand never got rich and their TFR is almost 1.0. China is basically an incel nation now.

Japan's problem isn't primarily their TFR which measures fertility age women only - they have fuckton of old people. Which means lower total birthrate and high death rate, which means a decrease in population. TFR is just the trend, the change in demographics becomes apparent later usually.

there's too many uninhabitable places and infertile lands on this earth because of the mountains and the snow and sand deserts

annually, roughly 1 hectare of land is needed to produce enough food for a healthy, nutritious diet for 1 individual

if people ate only vegetables and didn't consume dairy and meat (which is essential) then even half a hectare would have been good enough to produce enough food for 1 individual annually
