Your brain auto-corrects asymmetries in the mirror because you're too close to focus on the face as a whole and subconsciously uses the peripheral vision to fill shit in symmetrically ...but if you move farther away the face is smaller but aint as sharp as before.. and the asymmetries become less noticable in that sense.


A phone tho... the image is small enough AND clear enough for you to focus on it and realize your true sub-humanity .... COMBINED with the fact that its 2d so itll exaggerate distance in certain axis vs others.. this is why gymcels try to out-angle each other in photos.

Its a double whammy ... but to be fair you irl are in between a mirror and a selfie. so still subhuman but not AS subhuman
