Just wanted to make a post sharing my experience so far with Laser hair removal as I haven't seen many people share. Due to sensitive skin and preference I am getting all my facial hair removed as in my opinion looking fully clean shaven always is optimal. For reference I am very white with dark hair so ideal candidate for alexandrite laser (the best option imo) and had my first session yesterday. The worker said that she saw the follicules react amazingly well almost better than she has ever seen and from this one session a majority of the hair will be gone. Quick warning around 50% of people are said to get follicular edema which is like swelling and redness on your face (luckily for me i did not get this). During this session I also smelled a strong smell of burning hair which is a great sign that it is working. I will update as I go through this process but just wanted to share and answer any questions if anyone has any.

It’s a great youthmax

I did mine already for a years worth of sessions (1x month so 12 in total) and while it was pretty cheap ($600 in all) it was a pretty brutal experience ngl. Each session felt like the tech was thwacking a scalding hot rubber band on every square inch of my lower third, to the point I would involuntarily flinch and tear up a bit. Then my skin got that follicular edema shit for up to two weeks afterwards every single time which made me look like dogshit for half the year periodically (2 weeks recovery 2 weeks normal then repeat) which was very psychologically tough

Unfortunately I was not the best responder and will probably need to do another year’s worth of sessions to get past ~50% reduction which is what I estimate to be at currently

How much did you pay for the session?

I paid 50 (got a special not gonna be the normal price which is like 100-120 ish) well worth it tho id pay that monthly for the rest of my life if i had to. Genuinely I despise all facial hair to me it looks dirty and unhygienic but to each their own. I was tearing up after that shi too lmfao the lady was holding my arm and comforting me through ts, but it wasn't intolerable. I got no edema this time so praying that when they up the strength I still wont.

Very interesting you are only at 50% reduction after that long im praying my results are a bit faster than that are you ideal candidate/ did you use alexandrite? What she told me is that from what she could tell a majority of my hair will be gone just from that first session so praying thats the case, if not i guess ill just continue indefinitely until its all gone at least it will force me to be consistent with my spf.

Two big factors working against me, despite being an ideal candidate (white with dark hair):

- I use tazarotene daily and wasn’t willing to stop for this treatment so in turn my skin was hyper sensitive (I deadass looked like I got severely sunburned walking out of that clinic for the rest of the day, and the tech said she’d never seen somebody’s skin get that red before jfl) and I imagine this made her turn down the power a bit thereby reducing efficaciousness (and who knows how a topical retinoid might contraindicate w laser)

- I’m on oral minoxidil which obv promotes full body hair growth so it’s counteracting the laser

I’m confident after another round of treatment I’ll be satisfied. I already am for the areas it worked on

Ok that definitely gives me some hope. Being on taz and minoxidil while doing ts has me crying, but i respect it. I have always thought oral minox is such a good decision for lashes eyebrows hair and such with the only downside being unwanted hair growth so lowk if ur managing to get rid of all of the unnecessary hair that is a smart plan and ur only benefiting from minox. I appreciate the responses nevertheless. Im honestly happy i just went through the pain of it and started the process.

I have like kinda dark but not black but i guess it works towards my case since its easier to be targeted the darker it is. Your post a while back is the reason I went through with it, and I appreciate the info you provided despite some people hating on your decision due to low iq and not understanding preference. 80% after 4 sessions is insane do you shave daily still or can you skip some days and still look fully clean? Im hoping to have decent reduction by summer so that I can safely get a tan.

Yeah i shave eod but its less irrating and easier now that i gotten laser . Also no green undertone . Was worth it for me . The act of shaving itself never bothered me , it was the irritation and prominent green undertone falio .
