If you look white, then you will assimilate and be perceived as white. Doesn't matter if your North African, Lebanese, Brazilian, etc.

But if your a brown person from those countries, then never expect to be considered "white" just because some spanish-majority cuban managed to be called white, it just wont happen.

Yes, good point. Perhaps I didn't word it very well but I mostly meant that in the past you would be excluded because of your ancestry in the U.S. even if you looked white, and others would not consider you white if it was discovered you had any non-white ancestry. These days all that really matters is whether or not you look white.
