It's not just that if rape were legalized that poor men would be able to ascend who would otherwise be too poor to afford a harlot's service or a commercial surrogate's service. If middle class men were allowed to rape, they wouldn't need to resort to prostitution and commercial surrogacy which are expensive, they'd have more money, which means they can donate more to charities and be taxed more.
If we legalized rape, I think there'd be less divorce. I've already defended this idea with another argument, but I realized another argument: If rape is legalized, then wives would be happier because they like money and their husbands wouldn't be spending money on prostitutes anymore.
Frankly, these effects also apply if we set a maximum wage on prostitutes and commercial surrogacy. I've already said this before though. Somehow we need to make commercial surrogacy cheap. It should cost between $10,000 to $20,000 in total. That sounds fair. It can be even cheaper - why not? Pregnancy is cheap - the evidence of this is how high the birth rate is in African countries many of which are much less wealthy than the US, so it makes sense to make traditional surrogacy cheap.
For sure, legalizing rape would save lives(and create lives). If you visit a $100 prostitute once a week, you're losing $5,200 a year. According to GiveWell one of its charities requires $3,500 to save a life. Rape saves life though to be fair I'm not an altruist. If you're going to donate, I think it should be towards political candidates. Most politicians suck though, so it's not worth it either.
In this sense, legalized rape, which saves money unlike prostitution, is not a vice like gambling or drug addiction which burn your money up. I think it's harmful to rape if it's not legalized though.
