There is a common misconception and myth that divorce is more common in the west and that it's more of a western thing than a Muslim thing. The reality is that Islam is one of the first religions to legalise divorce and there are many Muslim communities and countries where divorce is common.

Kuwait divorce rate is 60 percent

Malaysia is 24 percent

Bit divorce rate today is low compared to what it was in past. In 15th century, 80% of all marriages ended in divorce in central middle east, that's probably because islam never stigmatised divorce unlike Christianity.
