Seems like it doesn't matter what I do; whenever I record/picture myself I look differently from when other people do so. It's like every time I get a picture/video taken from a 3rd person perspective, I look much more better than if I (doesn't matter the angle, distance, etc.) do it. Is the mirror a better representation of looks than anything camera-related?
Take it this way; when you stand in a bathroom with your friends, they don't look different in the mirror than they do when you look at them from other positions. Right?
