I think childhood trauma is the leading factor. Also, if you’re introduced to men in a sexual way (i.e gay pride parades) as a child, you could have a preference for men at an older age.

1) Gay men for most of history had been conforming to the rules of society and marrying women and having sex with them despite not being attracted to them.
They often had secret affairs, or just repressed their feelings. But nonetheless they still passed their genes. They were expected to have an heir by their families.

2) There are no conclusive studies proving that it’s 100% genetic like liberals claim. And back in ancient Greece most men were bisexuals with a preference for men because of their culture. So clearly environment has a huge impact.
