had the same exact thought 3 minutes ago while contemplating on whether i should go buy some alcohol or not.

obviously i'll buy it, but i realized the same thing you did. if you just made the right decision in these seemingly banal dilemmas, where you know what the right choice is, your life would be vastly different within a month. if anything, you would feel better about yourself and wouldn't feel like a degenerate, even if your quality of life didn't really improve.
