I’ve lived an “exciting” life

i‘ve lived in different states and different homes before, I’ve been to college and worked different jobs and been in alot of fights.

And all the exciting living has only made me more miserable.

The ideal life is a boring one which you get the most value from your friends and family and relatipnships.

My dream is to raise children in the northeast to give them the childhood I never had.

You can only induldge so much before you feel like a shell, so I think giving your children or family a better life by spending time with them and teaching them valuable life lessons, is much better then having an exciting life.

Most “incels” have had exciting lives that are horrible but most chads live lives that we’d dream to live because its so wholesome and happy

Epicurus talked about this thousands of years ago.

Avoiding pain and suffering is the key to eudaimonia and ataraxia.

He was staunchly against marriage and involvement in politics, though.

Im just saying from personal experience when i was a kid and my parents were together and I had a best friend group I was at my happiest, when my life got complex and everything changed my life went to shit.

And even now. Ive induldged in everything and the only way I think I can be fufilled is to raise strong children

That’s not boring. Boring is isolation.

Maybe simple is a better word. But to me boring is the life that is expected and standard.

That’s not an exciting life and a boring life just comes with the issues of an exciting life without the excitement if non NT.

But does this mean doing nothing? Or having a life that is peaceful but fairly normal. I am of the opinion that some amount of suffering is needed to achieve a peaceful life, but once that is attained you should keep it like that

Not true for the latter 2 for sure

idk about the first few though

christianity,
The Great Commission calls for the word to be spread, even at the risk of being harmed and persecuted.

Thats why Christians got purged hard by romans for like 300 years.

Tikun Olam. They are encouraged to go and "heal the world".

I suspect that's why even the atheistic ones are subverting the world through Hollywood, porn, great replacement etc

They see themselves as changing society for the better and fulfilling their "duty"

its more complicated than one answer

in daoism its anything that defines in any way allows for imperfection and the only thing that is perfect is nothing. the wisest people make no assertions and appear lazy and weak, bc everything comes from a state of being easy the wise person does what is easy but the stupid person requires definition to live

in buddhism its more extreme to where they reject absolutely everything that exists

christanity confusianism and judaism align more with daoism
hinduism more with buddhism

in judeo-christian beliefs in proverbs it says "A man is to be modest in all his ways: in his food and drink, in his speech, in his walking, in his garb, and modest with his wife"

no one ever thinks that they should have pain and suffering, i think you mean that in the buddhist sense of having no ties to anything, believing that nothing at all is worth any suffering

Yeah this is to over come the evil inclination which is brought by greed and over indulgence,
