Because you can live in something like this
Diy modular backyard guest house d2f66e22 fb33 4b79 8ef3 4005df40be50

If you have a good location, where you have enough rainwater, or access to a clean river, you can set up an shower/bath of sorts, sink, and can have a composting toilet, or use the bushes. Add solar power if you like

If I would stay on the same place for a long time I would build a shelter of logs or pellets and cover it with leaves

Something like this looks great

What about water though? For showering, washing up etc. Shelter seems like the easy bit. Again, living near a clean stream would be ideal, but rare

Its all fun and games until someone discovers it while you're sleeping and decides to rob you or set fire to it. Living in a van is much safer and easier to hide

Build a hut.
Yep, but a tent like this is a cheap, easy alternative. Would probably be first choice until you had the time or money to make a decent hut

Yeah it would be ideal, otherwise you need to buy water or find a well or something

Yeah but that's the same with a cabin too
Yes, there's more protection in a cabin, but it's still not exactly secure

You need to buy food so you have go to the work and leaving the tent without someone there so things will get stolen

Or live somewhere very wet and collect rainwater

Buy a safe
And this would be somewhere quiet

Yeah, that's why I wouldnt stay in the same place for too long

With a sleeping bag and tarp you can stay in different places and it's easier to hide

I mean the valuables can go with the car but tent other things can be destoyed or stolen .

It have to be near your car

Yeah but that's completely pikey
Having a shelter and facilities is a lot nicer and more realistic if you're gonna be working, which you'd need to realistically (just a few hours)

No rent u can leech wifi and basically have next to zero expenses
And yet it still sucks, hence why no one does it
Having a legitimate abode is much nicer

Too much rain is brutal. Too much cold is too. Heat? Ouch. Fucking ouch! Then we have the everyday trees falling. Not counting wildlife sneaking up on you. Trust me, living in a tent isn't how Hollywood and assholes advertise it to be. It's brutal at times. I would know.
