Here Drago has MFR of 0.97, which is "perfect", considering his head is tilted down, so likely around 1:1 if his head was aligned in F. plane:
1

Now if we just make his midface longer = he looks a bit worse, 0.9 MFR (could be the end of the argument, cos he still looks good, but thats not it):
2

But he does NOT looks worse bc of longer midface, he looks worse bc his lower third height is now shorter in comparison to the original pic.
If we maintain his midface and lower third height ratio the same as the original pic - he looks the same aesthetically speaking (but you also need a very minor additional tweaks to bring back the same harmony, cos his face is a lot longer now (midface AND lower face both longer), so we need to add a tiny bit more facial width (which happens naturally with long midface + good forward growth patterns anyways), which makes his ESR even "worse" on top of longer midface, but it doesnt matter). So basically he still has the same "long midface", MFR = 0.9, but he looks as good as the original pic?? The reason is midface height to lower face height ratio should be balanced for the face to look masculine. But in majority of "long midface" cases the lower facial height is short in comparison to the midface height. Why? Bc its not forward projected -> looks shorter in front view.

Yeah, he deffo looks more ogre (no shit, cos his face is literally bigger in all dimesions), but it looks as good as balanced midface height, despite "long midface". It looks like he just has a bigger head tbh:

practically speaking, it doesn't matter cos you can't just take and increase lower third anterior height to balance the midface height (but still easier than decrease midface height = still a bit practically useful). Just explaining that the reason why long midface typically looks worse than a normal to our brain one is cos of unbalanced midface to lower third height, when midface is relatively too long and lower third is short = it's a feminine feature, so basically the issue in most irl cases is relatively short lower third height and not the actual ipd / midface height ratio

not really. take androgenic as an example. his lower third height increased (due to his ramus getting bigger + his chin projection increasing) due to whatever he was blasting. and his midface was already on the long side. imo he now looks more uncanny and ugly with that lower third

hmm, i would use his example to actually prove my theory lmao
I think he literally practically fixed his midface, and it's not a failo like it was before

lmao tbh i kinda see ur point. he still looks ugly tho.

his lips and mouth are very uncanny, i wouldn't use the word "bad" cos the ratios are fine

but yeah, see how his increased lower third height (basically = chin height) kinda "fixed" his midface, I think at least for normies brain (which actually what matters) he in fact "removed" that long looking face appearance (both front and side), while his MFR is the same:

that's the point, if you change any significant facial feature into like lower than 5/10 reference range = he would descend significantly

yet the drago MFR descension example doesn't even look perceptibly worse. And ik I changed a lot of other facial features to compensate for it (which doesn't equal to just making them better), but that doesn't disprove the fact that MFR is not that important. It proves that the actually important ratio is midface height / lower face height. Like, imagine I will make his original chin height shorter to the same extent as I did increase his midface height - he'd look so much worse.

i've already explained it with visual examples in this thread:
