Longing for love;poem.

I had not yet fallen in love
but I was in love with the idea of it
and this feeling that something was missing
made me despise myself for not being more eager
to satisfy the need

I began to look around for some object of my love
since I badly wanted to love something
Yet the more I searched
the more restless my heart became
as if it longed not only for another,
but for the very essence of love itself

I mistook desire for devotion
and longing for fulfillment
and in this confusion
my soul wandered hungry and unsatisfied

For what I craved was not just a face
not just a fleeting embrace
but a home for my heart
a place where all my yearning
could finally come to rest.
