Basic grooming naturally makes you more attractive: a good haircut, clear skin, clean clothes, and being fit.
That’s not looksmaxxing. That’s simply normal self-care.
The problem starts when you go too far down the rabbit hole.
Then two things usually happen.
First, you become more insecure.
You suddenly spend a lot of time analyzing your face: jawline, canthal tilt, eye spacing, facial proportions.
You train your brain to only see flaws.
Second, you postpone your life.
Many people start thinking: “When I look better, then I’ll approach women.” “When I finally have my glow-up, then I’ll start dating.”
So they wait. Months. Years.
Meanwhile, other people go outside, talk to people, and gain experience.
Reality: social skills almost always beat small differences in looks.
Honest question: what seems more attractive?
A 7/10 person who is open, shows interest, and takes initiative. Or a 9/10 person who is insecure and never talks to anyone?
Most people know the answer.
What helped me was first realizing how often I analyze myself.
Examples: looking in the mirror and immediately searching for flaws, eating and instantly thinking about macros, constantly wondering what else you can optimize.
Also stop consuming looksmaxxing content and leave those forums.
From my perspective, looksmaxxing is a new form of body dysmorphia that mostly makes you unhappy and socially incapable.
