In men vitamin A kills your leydig cells which produce sperm.

Accutane is a more toxic metabolite of vitamin A called retinoic acid.

What I'm saying is you should ignore and block anyone who recommends dairy, eggs, and liver as healthmaxes. Steak can stay though.

I actually fucked myself up with organ meats and got tripled liver enzymes. However once I started low vit a I saw significant improvements.
let me guess you ate liver? and how much of it

i can tell that you ate lots of liver regularly not knowing that liver is already packed full of vitamin a so i can tell your ass ate more than 15 grams daily

Vitamin A is fat soluble if there is no fat the body won't absorb it+the type of vitamin A affects the body differently for example tretintoin as a pill is very powerful that it causes problems where as Beta carotene is less absorbed but enough to meet your intake and doesn't cause problems

This is in relation to ovarian reserves in women of course, the daily recommended amount of vitamin a (retinol) for women is around 700mcg and is important for egg quality, the chart shows dosages of thousands of mcg of vitamin a

Meet daily intake for your age but don't over consume

Vitamin A is involved in immune function, cellular communication, growth and development, and male and female reproduction [1-3]. Vitamin A supports cell growth and differentiation, playing a critical role in the normal formation and maintenance of the heart, lungs, eyes, and other organs [1,2]. Vitamin A is also critical for vision as an essential component of rhodopsin, the light-sensitive protein in the retina that responds to light entering the eye, and because it supports the normal differentiation and functioning of the conjunctival membranes and cornea [2,4].

Ray Peat nonsense.

Vitamin A and D compete for each other.

So in other words what you’re saying is that Sunlight is good for you!

I eat a shit ton eggs and some liver in my smoothie, I'm consuming doses of vitamin A slightly over the recommended RDI. My testosterone and testicles are fine, recommending people cut out a whole microNUTRIENT from their diet or that they stop eating certain food groups is idiotic and dangerous, we need vitamin A for some many things.

1. "In men vitamin A kills your leydig cells which produce sperm." Could you please cite any studies on this? So far I haven't been able to find anything on PubMed.

2. "Accutane is a more toxic metabolite of vitamin A called retinoic acid." So Isotretinoin isn't retinoic acid, it is converted into retinoic acid through a series of processes, but even then, retinoic acid is not itself "toxic", having too much of it can be an issue, like with any compound, but it is a natural chemical your body will make out of vitamin A, which binds to certain receptors in your cells, mainly in the skin and that is why it helps clear acne so much.

3. "dairy, eggs, and liver as healthmaxes. " Not only do dairy, eggs and liver actually boost your testosterone, but what you're basically implying is that people should cut vitamin A from their diet... Do you understand what the concept of a nutrient is, in a medical sense? Do you understand how many functions in our body does vitamin A have, to the point that we have classified it as a nutrient? I'm sure you don't otherwise you wouldn't be suggesting this.

EVEN ASSUMING that vitamin A does kill leydig, I'm willing to bet my testicles studies only showed that in absurd doses of it, way above the recommended RDI, and even then, a little boost in your testosterone isn't worth getting a vitamin A deficiency for.

You have a lot to learn. I suggest looking up the nutrition detective.

Here you go.

You have a lot to learn. I suggest looking up the nutrition detective.
And I suggest you stop listening to nutritional grifters trying to sell you funky supplements, courses and memberships all while misinforming you. The science of nutritions and vitamin research has been around for over 115 years, I'm sure that if there had been any major breakthrough in the area regarding vitamin A safety, it would be common knowledge, as it stands no nutritionist, medical professional or 99.99% of nutrition gurus who did not study the field (and that's saying a lot), would disagree with you.

But hey, prove me wrong, again, I'd love you to cite me some research. Surely if what you're saying is true, there most be tons of articles and case studies on the subject, aside from a schizophrenic guy's ramblings on the internet, right?

Yeah it's not looking very promising to organ meats. And I've seen too much Mark rippetoe to ever accept dairy as a healthmax.

So... The study design does not allow for causal inferences, only associations. Correlation ≠ causation. The study has cross-sectional limitations, and even it states it clearly at the end of it., saying that there's not enough data to draw meaningful conclusions.

Second, organ meats are rich in fertility-supporting nutrients and evidence exists supporting organ meats or their nutrients, this study also didn't control lifestyle or metabolic findings. I'm sorry, but the results of this study are not robust, not even me saying it, it is the thing says it itself.

But even then that's not my main point, high doses of vitamin A will cause toxicity issues, just like it happens with ANY of the fat soluble vitamins. But what I'm struggling to reconcile is how you justify willingly giving yourself a vitamin A deficiency, even if it's for your testosterone or reproductive system, what about the rest of your body? Why do you think vitamin A to this day is still considered an essential nutrient, just like B12, vitamin E or magnesium? That is for a reason, or maybe a couple of them, xerophthalmia, immunodeficiency, just to name a few.

The poison will always win in the end. And Vitamin A isn't the only poison in liver, it's full of heavy metals REGARDLESS of the source. Cadmium, aluminum, arsenic, nickel, copper.

This is why liver from younger animals is more expensive. Because they had less time to accumulate and store toxins.

You know what? You beat me, I don't have the balls to debate that, not now at least

This forum is a funny place, not even a week ago I had 3 guys telling me that eating fish liver was absolutely amazing for you, and that you can't get vitamin A toxicity from fish or animal liver despite me citing like 4 papers clearly showing the opposite, and now there's you saying the complete opposite. The gradient of different beliefs in this place is fascinating.
