I work in an office, yeah, everyone’s nightmare. But since it’s in the business field, it feels like there’s no limit to how much money I can make. The highest-paying jobs are often business-related because executives believe that salespeople are the ones actively bringing in money through calls with clients and so on. Also, there’s hardly any field that prepares you better to start your own business than working in business.
When I was younger, I worked lower-paying jobs, like in a café or a shop. And I can honestly say: I was never happier than back then. Nowadays, the stress has become so overwhelming that it feels like all joy for life is gone.
I know most people try to compensate for the suffering of work with money, but that won’t work. Either you manage to get rich quickly, or you should stop trying.
There’s nothing better than working in a café, a restaurant, or similar low-paying jobs, because no one takes their job too seriously, and it’s not expected of you either. You meet cool people, you can talk with them, often people who were popular in high school, who enjoyed life so much that their careers didn’t turn out as strong. But your stress levels stay low, you laugh with them, do your work, and go home. No meetings, no direct supervisors, no deliverables, no deadlines.
It makes no sense to try to build a better future with money while making your present life worse. You don’t know when you’re going to die, you’re just hoping for a theoretical future that is supposed to justify your current suffering, but that future may never come.
