It's a common misconception that lowering bodyfat will always make you look better. All lowering bodyfat does is reveal your true base and emphasise your prominent bone structure and jaw. Unless it you are morbidly obese and have a tendency to storing facial fat, you will know if your bone structure is good or not just by looking at your face. There are also various tests you can do to see if it will look good lean.
So, unless if you are morbidly obese with tendency to storing facial fat, good bone structure will be somewhat distinguishable, and will be emphasised instead of just magically revealed like all the copers want you to believe.
Also, lowering bodyfat can indeed have a negative or positive impact on ratios. If your bone structure is shit, and your ratios are worse when losing weight, then you will look worse and vice versa.
