Like in anime, the main characters of the show always have something that stands out for them visually.
This is an indicator that immediately sets them apart and lets you, the viewer, know that they are important - they are given instant status.
In real life it's the same, but even more so. Special people in real life always have at least one thing that makes them stick out visually. This doesn't even have to be extreme good looks, but maybe one halo or something that lets them fall into a niche.
Just one of these traits MAY be enough to make your stand out as a main character:
Basically, anything that lets you stand out from the ordinary. Peacocking, but to a much lesser extreme and in a neurotypical manner.
