Boomers will die, wealth will be passed down.

Unless you lived in the same city as your parents, most property inherited, will be sold, especially as rising cost of living, people will need the money to spend.

Who will buy the houses? Zoomers won't be able to afford multi million dollar homes, so prices will fall to meet demand.

That's cope.
I mean a 7000sq ft property, not a Georgian era castle. They are not buying the bulk of these

Interesting take, but what do we define as a mansion?

The £600k one bedroom flat in London or the £100k 5-bedroom house up North? Is this a price issue or a space issue?

It’s true that population has stagnated in the west even counting immigration and yet we keep building more and larger homes and prices continue to rise across the board, which makes little sense.

I suspect the end game might be even more immigration and the larger homes get converted to multiple occupancy.

Housing won't become affordable til population falls off a cliff and we are about 50-60 years away from that, not 10-20 years.

Even then, if most populations are concentrated in the city centres the countryside and rural areas will just be abandoned so it's irrelevant. Look at Japan. They have empty school buildings in rural towns, yet they live in boxes in Tokyo.

I'm not talking about regular housing for most people

I specifically mean $2-5MM homes

Rich people will just have second, third, fourth etc. homes and working wagies will continue to be crammed into progressively more tiny boxes.
