ive seen people on here discuss how they use drugs as social lubricants but stay away from alcohol due to the fact that it causes bloating and severe issues the next day and therefore they run alternative drugs such as pregabalin, phenibut, variety of benzodiazepines, baclofen, lsd etc.
but one drug that i rarely see people mention is MDMA/ecstasy
what makes mdma stand out from other social lubricants drugs?
1. triggers a massive spike in dopamine, seretonin, and norepinephrine
the release of these chemicals in ur brain lead to an increased sense of empathy, trust and connection to basically everything around you which allows for social barriers to be taken down and it being wayyyy easier to open up around people you've never interacted with before.
This is different compared to other commonly used drugs such as xanax alcohol phenibut and pregabalin due to the fact that they improve socialization by interacting with GABA, and increased GABA = reduced anxiety and sedation, allowing you to not have any anxiety when talking to people
2. reduced activity/slowed activity in the amygdala
Compared to GABA interactive drugs which make you just a retarded ass sleepy zombie, MDMA slows down activity in the amygdala which leads to less social anxiety and less fear of rejection, which means MDMA directly works on your communication and socialization skills without creating sedation and blackouts like GABA drugs do
obviously, sedation and blackouts aren't ideal for social situations
3. MDMA directly stimulates oxytocin release
as far as i know, there isn't any other drug out there that directly stimulates oxytocin to be released except for straight oxytocin which doesn't cross the blood-brain-barrier except for intranasal which has mixed results
this is water but increased oxytocin levels at that moment will lead to enhanced sociability, empathy creating a feeling of "closeness" to other people, and makes social interaction more rewarding, MDMA's release of dopamine and serotonin already does this but with oxytocin, this is boosted even further
4. MDMA doesn't create withdrawals in the way that GABA drugs do
GABA drugs such as benzodiazapines and alcohol literally give life threatening seizures when withdrawing, and shit such as pregab/baclofen/phenibut aren't much better
MDMA isn't physically addictive like opioids or benzos are, only psychologically
this means that the withdrawals created by MDMA are mild in comparison to xanax or fentanyl, ur just gonna be depressed/as fuck
however, if you are only using ecstasy for party/club situations, this most likely can be prevented
5. studies have literally been done about MDMA's ability to fix the autistic person's shitty social skills
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8686313/
read if u want
TLDR: MDMA increases oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine leading to reduced social anxiety and a feeling of closeness to people you don't even know and doesn't come with the side effects of sedation/blackout like alcohol and benzos do
