Been experimenting with 1000mg vitamin C daily (as ascorbic acid) for a month now. Here’s what you should know if you’re into skinmaxxing or collagen boosting:
1. Collagen Production = Boosted
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Vitamin C is literally required for collagen synthesis. No C = no collagen. You need it to convert proline → hydroxyproline, which stabilizes the collagen triple helix. Basically, without enough C, your skin structure is trash.
2. 1000mg Might Be Overkill, but It Works
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The body absorbs ~200-500mg efficiently, but megadosing helps keep levels elevated throughout the day. I split it 500mg AM + 500mg PM. It’s water-soluble, so you just pee out the excess—no harm unless you’re prone to kidney stones.
3. Skin Quality = Upgraded
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
• Subtle glow after 2-3 weeks
• Less redness, more even tone
• Minor acne healing faster
Note: Don’t expect miracles alone. It’s a helper, not a cure.
Bonus: Fights Oxidative Stress
Vitamin C is an antioxidant. It helps reduce free radical damage from sun, pollution, etc. Basically slows down skin aging a bit.
