If you have been on TikTok recently, especially within the looksmaxxing community, you may have come across a user known as Chalom.

Chalom is a content creator and participant in the looksmaxxing space who recently attempted to take his own life and later posted the results of that attempt on his TikTok story. The situation quickly drew widespread concern from people who were worried about his mental state and overall wellbeing.

Moments like this highlight that behind every account and every post is a real person with real challenges. Spaces like this dedicated to self improvement must emphasize mental wellbeing and empathy toward others in the community.

“But why should I care?”

The reality is that mental health is extremely important in any environment focused on personal improvement. Communities centered around aesthetics like the looksmaxxing space can sometimes create intense pressure to meet certain standards, which may lead individuals to become overly critical of themselves or feel that their value is determined only by how they look. When that pressure is not balanced with a healthy mindset and support from others it can have serious consequences.

Situations like this should also remind people in the community to look out for one another. When someone appears to be struggling it is important to reach out, check in, and encourage them to speak with people who can support them. A simple message asking if someone is doing alright can make a meaningful difference. People should never feel as though they are completely alone in their struggles, especially in communities where individuals interact with each other daily.

If you need help, ask for it.

You are not alone and suicide is never the answer
