Does mewing have any long term effects or does it just improve your jawline in the moment?

If you're developing it helps, but only until you're like 13, after that it doesn't do much and especially after 18 it's pure cope. Only good for hyoid posture

what are the best methods for ACTUALLY improving your jawline?

Leanmax and maybe masseter training if you don't have inward gonions. Also chin tucks to raise hyoid, but nothing really to grow bones, only to have your jawline more visible

Low fat percentage

Push the hyoid bone.

Mewing (which, although it does not promote jaw growth, positions your tongue and the rest of your mouth correctly, giving the appearance of a defined jawline)

Also, probably some posture work, improving your cervical posture will probably improve your jaw.

Now talking about things that really change the jaw:

Mentoplasty

Bimax

Lefort I, II, III

Mandibular implants (Ramus, Angle of ramus, body of the mandible).

By the way, I do not recommend Botox at all, or even surgeries that cut the bone, because it is very likely to cause nerve damage. Personally, I think mandibular implants are safer, plus they are attached to the bone. That is, as long as you don't have a tiny jaw, because doing that would be counterproductive.

Botox tends to dissipate and be absorbed by the body in a short period of time, so it is a waste of time and money.

Check out BOTB, there's a user who posted how to move the hyoid bone, and it's not what you're saying, it's something more complex.

The best (quick and effortless) way to remove facial fat is with deoxycholic acid injections.

The most lasting way, which costs nothing, is to lose weight.
