Do you think chewing hard gum daily speed up progress? I know that it will give bigger jaw muscles, but does it contribute to the growth (upswing and expansion) of the face? John never really recommended chewing at all.

Chewing builds up resting muscle tone (so you can keep teeth together at rest). Might add bone to the lower part of your ramus too. Might also move your zygomatic arches a bit outward and stimulate sutures to keep them open. It is not of utmost importance, oral posture is, but can definitely be a useful tool. Problem is that some people overdo it and give themselves TMJ and bloated masseter muscles.

I am of the opinion that good body posture and not sleeping through your mouth at night is more effective than meowing loudly all day long with your tongue with weird techniques like place a tip of the tongue just in front of the airways.
