Despite the chin-wing being regarded as a meme on this forum, I have noticed that those with a quite short lower third but a normally developed midface can see pretty drastic results from this procedure as shown below:

The chin height and the mandible height have increased and have given this lady a pretty masculine jaw. However, the chin-wing does come with the risk of fucking with your gonial angles and also some people have had nerve issues where they can't feel their lips etc. Could a mini-wing achieve similar results as pictured above by lengthening the chin and anterior mandible? This is the cut for a mini-wing btw

Also fuck bimax, its too expensive and the prep takes too long. I've got 14k saved up and it should be enough for a chin-wing/mini-wing this summer. High IQ users help pls.

What is your jaw like, if you don't have SFS you could just get a genio? It will lengthen your GA though, since u mentioned that as a concern.

I think I do have sfs, but when I jut I look normal so I have determined the cause is lack of mandible height, genio can't fix that.

What's ur gonial angle?

115 degrees
Yeah you should get probably get a vertical (maybe horizontal too if u want chin projection) genio, if you're not a candidate for bimax.

But idk ur face

Wouldn't a mini-wing be better than a genio?

I mean it depends, why'd u want mini wing instead of genio exactly
my lower third is quite similar to the before picture of the women who got the chin wing, and when I jut its not just my chin that is moving down, but my whole mandible

Theres a reason most surgeons dont do these.

1 - its harder than a bsso in some ways to perform
2 - actual risk of death
3 - trimax and or implants will look better, this procedure is outdated...

Dont try save money on an osteotomy of ur face jfl

Eh i don't think it'd even be drastically different, maybe genio would make your jaw slightly steeper and v-shaped looking and less robust than mini chin wing, but all the effort for minimal (maybe even worse) outcome for what.

Trust me i have been down the same rabbithole of deciding what surgery I need. Just get a consultation with a good maxfac surgeon and see what they recommend

First has some degree of sfs i think, bimax would have benefited her.

I understand that is the case for the standard chin wing but I thought the mini-wing is safer?

Also why not do bimax with any surgeon wich has an eye for aesthetics?, imagine going to safi and pay 65k+ just for a result that any surgeon would get jfl.

I've got quotes from some surgeons to do the chin-wing/mini-wing for around 10k euros which is a lot cheaper than trimax

I think he can do a custom genio to make his chin wider and more square, idk if normal surgeons perform it.

Yeah but it's risky and you can go to local maxillofacial surgeons, for example, there are 2 surgeons in Romania wich got an eye for aesthetic and the price for their trimax is 10k.

That's exactly what i don't want lol, bcs my face is very narrow so i need some kind of an angle and not a potato jaw.

I'm going to get a genio anyway bc mine is borderline deformed (short, underprojected)

How risky is a mini-wing actually tho? Since its basically just a genio with a further back cut.

Same, but I'll see if they'll make it wider with the bimax, good thing that those surgeons actually do jaw widening so a custom genio works.

Pretty risky considering that area having nerves there.

You are right in there is a nerve there but according to this paper, the mini-wing won't have an issue with this.
Idk tbh, i did not do alot of research on mini wing because not many surgeons and people get it, why risk a nerve damage when you can get the same result from a custom genio right?, also you'll have a blockier look if you don't have your gonions wider than the mid mandible.

I mean i want a narrow one personally, more like right. I think it'd fit me more personally, not a 100% sure though

I think i'll just have to talk to the surgeon about this during my consultation, but its gonna be between a custom genio or a mini-wing. @RealSurgerymax any thoughts?

Thanks for the help guys.

I don't think he would respond unless you'll gonna get a surgery with him.

Depends if you actually need lefort downgraft which many people asking for this do.

I probably do, but could I still achieve satisfactory results with just a mini-wing? Also how to tell if I need lefort downgraft?

Basically I look completely normal once I start jutting so I assumed I didn't desperately need a maxilla downgraft. My mfr is ~1.05 and my fwhr is exactly 2.00, so I would rather not risk changing it.
