I noticed the 2024 guide for rating PSL doesn't add to 100 in how often each PSL range would appear in the general population. Since people want to know what 'HTN' actually means, that post has become kind of standard for basing ratings on, so I thought I'd try to fix it. Scaling it up to accuracy would have brought some tiers higher than I would have liked, so I decided to plot them on a curve based on the standard distribution established in the guide at the top of /Ratings, and keeping the PSL ranges established by that 2024 thread (media examples linked). Here's what turned out;
Obviously LTN is not as common as what it should be and the predictions above MTN are entirely cooked. This either means LTN goes up to 3.5 PSL and the standards for HTN are a lot higher (5 - 6 PSL) or, more likely, these new phrases and their definitions are bullshit popularized by people who don't know what they're talking about when it comes to PSL. I do like them since it's more digestible to hear MTN than 4 PSL, but they need to be standardized in a way that reflects how people actually use them. For example, 4 PSLs are called LTNs today, but I wouldn't try to reallocate anything myself. Give thoughts.
