Constitutional monarchy is basically a monarchy where the monarch is bound and limited by a constitution and a legal framework, this might depend on the country’s constitution, but for European countries most monarchs just has executive power under the government, approve political matters and represent the state in diplomatic matters, so they do have a role, even though limited.
