lets say i hit 1k subscribers and try to monetize it. would i even make any ad revenue from it

Yes but it's small at that point + it depends on the ads that are placed on your content which tend to be related to it (example having a beauty channel that many beauty companies can advertise on vs a channel dedicated to jelqing, there are way less companies on the jelqing sector)
