This is usually called "preppy style" and the male equivalent is exactly this, male preppy clothing - most basic outfit in this style would be polo shirt, chinos, and some fitting footwear, for example boat shoes.
The whole idea is that those are clothes that are casual, but still elegant and improving your body looks - for example this skirt makes the waist and hips look better, as well as legs due to it's shape and length (skirt of certain length ending above half of thigh will give illusion of longer legs), and the cute top improves upper part;
in same way male preppy fashion improves male body proportions: good polo shirt improves the way your shoulders and chest look, and well fitted trousers and shoes will also play part in looks of your legs which lets you improve looks of your waist.
