Got some questions that I cant get apparently I cant get a good answer from anyone. Does facemask pull the upper maxilla if u get surgical assist. If u get surgical assist do u get no cheeckbone expansion. Negative 5 to 15 angle for forward growth right. How do u stop downwards growth it seems every study results in downwards growth except the one with an implant and a positive angle. Do the Damn metal things attached to ur teeth only pull of teeth or actually pull the maxilla. Appreciate it thanks. It should pull the maxilla not just the teeth. Though I haven't seen it done on adults only kids.

That should have been a very narrow palate...
in normal MSE what’s the expansion on zygos? Is it significant or better to something else?

i dont know tbh
some doctors say its pretty insignificant/ or it doesnt even happen its just swollen after expansion the xrays show somewhat good results

Hmm guess we should ask @RealSurgerymax opinion...
Does MSE effect zygoms in a significant way or it’s soo minimal that it would even be worth.

I have an appointment for a slighty narrow palate with a doctor that is using MSE. The palate is indeed a bit too narrow but to be honest Im aiming for results on zygos.

Doesn’t pull upper maxilla with surgical assist

No cheekbone expansion with surgical assist

ye -10 to 5 degrees is good imo

frontal teeth chewing and frontal tip mewing to prevent anterior portion of maxilla from shifting downwards

yes the metal things pull on the teeth not the maxilla, as the wire is too weak and not rigid enough to hold the forces of FM

Surgical Assist can get cheekbone expansion confirmed.

The forward movement from facepulling will not be aesthetically noticeable surgical assist or not.

The pulling is on the MSE device itself not the teeth.

CT scans prove zygomatic expansion, temporal bone bending, and Infraorbital bone deposition .

The first being the only truly noticeable change

chew with ur canines and incisors, mew only on the front of ur palate or tongue chew with mastic on the front of ur palate

if ur young/growing you can get a decent amount of forward growth which will be noticeable

Dont know how it’s possible for cheekbone to expand since the cut separated the upper and lower maxilla. Do u think it’s possible to make mouth wider with mse also does the upper maxilla still get pulled forward with surgical assist.

Cheekbones can expand because the cut isn't through the bone completely like Lefort and yes MSE makes mouth wider

All of my advice is for adults.

As the user above said, it’s not a complete cut depending on who is doing the surgery. Every surgical assist is different right now. Ting/Vaughn ‘s surgical assist turns out to give upper expansion after all.

1. idk i need to see the cuts of surgical assist. You won’t get cheekbone advancement for sure
2. yes you dont, at least that’s what was said in the interviews with the inventor
3. kind of a grey area, some people reccomend 30 degree angle some reccomend negative. IMO negative is risky since it has a chance to achieve downward growth, some people say it helps upward growth due to it being in the back of the maxilla.
4. that’s cause they have negative angle, try to have a positive angle OR chew a lot on front teeth
5. idk what you mean? Bollard plates pull the maxilla I think

I had my surgical assist done 4 weeks ago with dr. Vaughan and have been constantly wearing the facemask for about 16 to 18 hours a day. The cuts are located right at the bottom of the nose.

The cuts do not go all the way through the bone. Only the surface level. Vaughan calls it a "monocortical cut". He assured me that any forward movement I would have gotten without

To answer your question, in my case the facemask hasn't done anything. My maxilla hasn't moved forward at all.

In fact, I also think the MSE screws are dragging through the bone. My diastema has not gotten any wider ever since the day of the surgical assist. I assume this is because when he splits the mid palatal suture with a chisel, the bone does not crack all the way to the back.

Anyway, I think hard mewing and posture correction is the only way to achieve forward movement of the upper part of the maxilla. The tooth-borne appliances are pure cope. I visited nearly every DNA appliance provider in california and the results they show don't indicate any aesthetic improvement in the upper midface, it only expands your alveolar bone, making you look like some kind of gorilla or chimpanzee.

hard mewing seems like the only legit way to get gains. Look at salludon or the Nick guy Mike Mew had posted on his channel.
