My "ex" friend is texting me, what should i do, help needed!

We was friends for like 2-3 years, pretty close actually but since weve got nee classes weve gradually talked less and less. It has been semi purposefull as while hes funny and outgoing hes just unsuferable in certain aspects. Hes so painfully insecure and cant for the life of him go a dsy without jestering on everyones cost. Now im pretty confident so i just kinda ignored the stupid comments as it didnt bother me that much but it gets to a point so it would spike my cortisol after a while especially in front of new people

But i guess 1 we had fun moments and stuff and 2 hes a socialmaxxer like no other so it would be very conducive to socialmaxcing for me as well as he finds fun parties/gatherings or whatever

Whst is the best course of action? Befriend again or ignore?
