Ik this crazy off topic but I shared this on reddit so thought I should share it here
So when I was 14 I went to Juvie for bashing a kids head with a skateboard in this different city from were I lived (no one found out I did this But it’s obv still on my cr) And his parents pressed charges bc I guess he got really hurt. So I was sent to Juvie for a month and 1 year of probation (classic youngcel sentence). So before I got sent to juvie they came to my house and arrested me and took me to the police station and they put me in a room with a chair and a desk and I had to sit there for 4 HOURS WICH WAS BRUTAL. No phone, no TV, no nothing. Just thoughts of what the fuck is Abt happen. (Bc when I fucked him up I dipped out of there they couldve only found out through my moms license plate but I didnt think he would see me get in the car) Fast forward they moved me to another room with a bed and gave me sweats that I had to wear. I spent the night there and the next day I went to court and that's when I got my sentencing.
So fast forward they got me in this car and took me to this Juvenile center Abt 2 hours away from where I live. When I got there they gave me my Juvie uniform and I had to sign some shit along with getting patted (wich is stupid what could I possibly be carrying I don’t even have my phone) and took me to the "circle" Wich was just a big ass room with hundreds of beds with all the other kids. Icl I was scared as fuck everyone was fighting, bc they were all from different gangs, guards just screaming non stop and I knew it was gonna be ass. And the age groups were weird they were all the way down from 13-16 in the building I was in. And yes there was alr 13 year olds in there in gangs tryna kill each other lol. Now the building I was in were for the ppl who came here for fuck shit like robbing a store, beating up someone, public disturbance, stealing someone’s car shit like that. There was only a couple guys who were in there for acc brutal shit like stabbing someone but not killing them shit like that.
Now a quick tour of Juvie we got the "circle" Which is where everyone sleeps. Then we got the "Munch area" Wich is were everyone eats and icl the food was fucking good anyone telling u juvies food is ass there lying to your face bc that she was good asl. Then we got the "group of games" Wich is just the basketball court. Then we got the showers, now the showers arnt bad when ppl say you shower with a bunch of dudes that's cap in Juvie its like 10 portapoties with a shower in it and we all take turns and the guards gives us 5 minutes each to shower. The bathrooms are like school bathrooms but a guard has to watch u piss and be next to the stall while u take a shit. Then we got the "Boring zone" Wich is were we spend most of the day, its just a class room were u sit and do a bunch of work. Then we “grandmas living room” Wich is pretty much just a room with a small tv were everyone can get together and wach cartoons at night. Then we got “the box” wich is small room with a bed that u would sit in if u did something bad.
Now my time there was honestly not bad. I kept to myself and made some friends. Had a good time playing basketball. The bad part abt the day was at night. Every night a gang member would try to choke another rival member with a pillow case and all u can hear is screams from the dude, big ass alarms and cops yelling. So sleep was 1/10. Another bad part is that your constantly in fear that your gonna get jumped for no reason. (I’ll prop make a separate thread abt the crazy shit that went down while I was there)
But the worst one of all was just having no freedom. I realized how good I had it being able to walk outside, go to school, sit in the car, eat homemade food shit like that.
But after the month passed I was out of there. They took me back to the police station and gave me my cloths. And I remember walking outside of the police station and seeing cars and ppl and it was just… I can't even explain how good it felt. And I was only locked away for a month imagine years JFL. After that I walked back to this ice cream shop were I saw one of my friends and he asked me where I've been ( Wich was a relief no one found out I went to Juvie). I just said that I went on vacation and sat with him and his girl and got icecream.
But moral of the story if you find yourself in Juvie don't be afraid as long as you keep to yourself you'll be fine. A lot of people fear monger saying "ohhh it changes u" like no it’s just u living at a really strict school that's pretty much it. With a lot of ghettoh kids.
And before yall say this is tales from the basement. Well tbh I have no proof that I went there so believe me if u want or don’t believe if u want. But thought I should share.
