At first she couldn't understand anything I said. I speak Malayalam at home which is a Dravidian language, and it was completely unfamiliar to her. Over time, though, she's picked it up really well. She still can't speak it fluently, but she understands almost everything when I talk and she can now form basic sentences and even read a few phrases on TV
On the other hand, I still struggle with her Indo Aryan language. I can manage Hindi, but her specific dialect is still difficult for me. Are Dravidian languages easier to learn? Idk. Hindi was not that hard but certain pronunciations don't come naturally to me.
