This is probably the most overlooked aspect of human function, and that is diaphragmatic breathing.
All my life I've always been a chest breather (shoulders move up and down when breathing) because when I was a kid I always tried to tuck my stomach in because I was insecure asf about having a tummy, so I developed chest breathing that became a lifelong habit. I always felt uneasy, stressed, and high on cortisol. I literally thought that's how everybody else felt at all times, and let me tell you, I tried to focus on diaphragmatic breathing for the whole day today, and I literally feel what being a normal human feels like right now. It feels like I've been living on hard mode all my life and recently switched to easy mode this is prob what it feels like when a kid is diagnosed with ADHD by jewish doctors and is prescribed Adderall for the first time I imagine it's the same feeling.
I didn't know that diaphragmatic breathing (which is how humans are biologically supposed to breathe) was so important, and the fact that it lowers cortisol significantly, increases GABA ( Calming neurotransmitter that also increases when you take benzos or drink alcohol) , and reduces anxiety significantly I literally feel like I'm disinhibited by alcohol without the drunkenness effect
Also, time passed so quickly at work today it felt like an hour had passed instead of 8 hours. Also I was unbothered even though I had a lot of work to do. Normally I'd be checking the time every minute, waiting for the shift to end and it always felt like torture. At the end of today, I was probably 80% less tired than I would've been if I hadn't started breathing correctly. I can't even describe it in words ngl
Keep in mind this is literally the first day that I tried to implement diaphragmatic breathing in forever, and I got significant life changing results. It does need time to get used to for the first few hours I was basically breathing on manual mode because I had to relearn everything about the way I was breathing.
If you've been in the same situation as me, learn how to breathe correctly. I guarantee you it will change your life.
