We are together for 11 years, married for 10. We have 3 kids, elementary school age. Lately my wife has started acting nervous.
I've only had a full head of hair till around 25, starting thinning progressively - diagnosed hereditary male patter baldness - with an obvious bald spot being there around 29-30 and from this point it was a trainwreck up there. I have a horseshoe trimmed very short haircut. Problem is that she doesn't like clean shaven either as it makes me "look like an old/sick man" and that men at my age should have great hair. I don't like clean shaven too - don't have a good head shape to support it. I can't grow a beard either due to limitations from my job.
Some signs where there (maybe) but I ignored them. Sometimes she mocked me for the baldness calling me a "baldie" on a serious/funny note. A few times she asked (tongue on cheek) a friend of mine - who apparently still has a luscious head of hair - to give me some hair to cover the barren land up there (ouch!). Almost every time we had sex the last few years, she insisted on having every light off and even the shutters down. Now, I think, maybe she just couldn't stand the appearance of her balding husband? She sometimes jokingly, sometimes on a more serious note made comments on how great some guy's hair looks (a friend or some person we both know on social media), which made me feel somewhat awkard - but never gave much attention.
I write this because yesterday she went on an incredible rant about how she is bored and tired trying to put up with my bad looks, that she wants to have sex with handsome young men with full hair she can run her fingers through and fit bodies/with abs/etc. And that she is very young and wants to feel like she is living her life fully with a youthful person and not a rapidly aging bald guy. Also, she pointed out that almost every young man she sees out there looks better than me, that she is genuinely disgusted by my bald scalp (and soft stomach).
Obviously these comments decimated my ego. I couldn't even answer to her. Note that I'm not fat or something, normal weight but not shredded.
I told her something along the lines of: "I could go to the gym and get a six pack in time with hard work, but I can't do something for the baldness". She just replied with "I don't care a bit".
Maybe someone has gone through something similar or dealt with a situation like mine?
