Last month we, myself 33M and my wife 30F, hosted a election night party with a few close friends. The night started out great, we made cocktails and had dips and appetizers prepared for the long night ahead of us. There was a slight hint of fear, but for the most part we were all fairly confident that reason would win out and our preferred candidate would be victorious.

As election results started to come in the mood, mine particularly shifted. I had a couple of outburst and almost threw a chicken wing at the TV while calling my fellow citizens dumbfucks. At first my wife and the party goers were sympathetic but eventually my wife asked me to calm down a bit as there was still a lot of results still left to come in. I immediately apologized and realized that I was being a bad party host and making the guests uncomfortable. I then excused myself to my office to calm down a bit.

While in my office, I decided to hop on to one of my favorite streamers channels to continue watching the coverage. Things kept getting worse though. My wife stopped by once to ask if I was going to join them out there, and I assured her I would, but I just couldn't summon the motivation to get out of my chair. At a certain point the anger was building again. Results came in for a critical state. They were not good. I stood up while letting out a guttural scream, and grabbed my prized Rivendell Lego set off its shelf. I smashed that set against my 4k monitor. Legos exploded everywhere and the monitor came crashing down off its stand. In all that energy I went to the floor as well and ended up laying there for a few seconds trying to contain my rage.

My wife burst into the room and asked what the hell was going on. My rage sobered. I picked myself up off the ground and lied to her and told her I was going to fix a piece on the Lego set but tripped and fell into my monitor. She gave me a bit of a funny look but asked if I was ok. I told her I was. She didn't talk to me much that night. I think part of it was that she was upset about the election. She definitely was embarrassed or angry about my behavior to though.
